We formerly made staffs from both 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch tubing. But, we found that when you have a solution calling for an emergency staff, the last thing on your mind is following instructions limiting its use. Therefor, we make only the heaviest-duty, most reliable and safest staffs in the industry. We are well aware that foreign staffs are available at foreign made prices. But when you are teetering in the current, that is a bad time to regret your not buying the best. There have been numerous improvements and upgrades to our staffs over the 23 years we have been making them. Today's Guides Model represents all that we can do to make the finest product. There are NO shortcuts or money-saving ideas here.
Made of 3/4 inch, 6061T6 aircraft grade aluminum and anodized black. The plastic coil lanyard reduces the "trailing" of the staff when you let it ride behind you--and since it comes from the center of the handle, the staff never gets "crosswise" in the current so you get little drag.
The joints are precision machined on CNC lathes for, "just-the-right-fit" and never stick together. They never need lubrication and come apart without the need to whack the staff on the ground. Assembly is as simple asremoval from the holster, holding the handle, and jiggling slightly--or, a lot.
The handles are soft neoprene and the tip is solid brass. Brass is less slippery on slick rocks so you get a firmer "grip."
We use a heavy-duty bungee cord, which is replaceable and it does not double over a pin which would allow us to boast a double cord at the expense of premature wear.
A polypro sheath is included with each staff.
52 and 57 inch staffs are standard--and the same price. We can often create custom sizes by shortening sections of tubing or mixing tubing sizes--but there is a surcharge which will depend on what work needs to be done.
